clyderunners 10k Trail Race

We started our 10k trail race in 2015 and it has now been run each subsequent year, attracting more runners on each occasion. We tend to host our trail race in autumn, sometime in September or October, which usually makes for a good muddy race.

The 10k race starts and finishes at the front of the Watersport Centre at Strathclyde Park.  The route leaves the park and heads into the lovely Baron Haugh Nature Reserve where you follow the trail, do a short loop and head back into the park.  Lovely scenery, a few wee undulations, approximately 10k maybeee a wee bit over and maybeee a wee bit under- it really is a gorgeous trail run.

Carluke 10k Road Race

As a club, we support our local race, Carluke on the Run. The race took on a new look in 2016 and featured a new 10k road race and fun run. The race fits firmly with our ethos of running for fun and as a social event. It is organised by Carluke Development Trust and fundraising from the event directly benefits the new Lanarkshire Beatson which opened its doors in December 2015.

Runners have the option of a 10k Road Race with 2 categories: a two person relay completing 5k each for runners aged 12 and over, and the full 10k which is open to all runners over the age of 15. The family-friendly Fun Run is suitable for all ages and abilities.

This race starts and finishes at the John Cumming Stadium and takes place on local country roads, with a few hills to contend with.

Results from the 2017 race are available on stuweb

Strathclyde Parkrun

A lot of our club members run and volunteer at Strathclyde Parkrun. It is a timed 5k run which takes place every Saturday at 9:30am at Strathclyde Park. The course is an out and back course run on tarmac paths predominately at the side of the loch and is a flat course. The run starts and finishes just North of car park 4 (the furthest car park from the Watersports Centre).

Parkruns are free for everyone to take part. Just register online and turn up any Saturday, just don’t forget your barcode!
