Clydestride ultra and relay- it was a blast.
Stonking runs by everyone.
Allan, Gary and Derek completed the full 40 miles successfully. Allan was still smiling and doing aeroplane impersonations despite going through a few gnarly episodes- eventually finishing in under 7 hours.
Gary looked as if he had a nice relaxing morning- truth is he had just came off the nightshift and ran 30 miles when I saw him,
Am awrite I’ve got a twirl – legend.
I didn’t see Derek today but I heard he was happy as Larry, as usual – and had asit down picnic at a checkpoint.
Lyndsey started off the relay team and had a great run, finishing 7 minutes ahead of her target pace. Lauren trounced the dreaded jungle section, which was giving a lot of people cause for concern on the run up to the race. Late substitute Gordon surpassed all expectations on the hilly leg so great effort at such short notice. I set myself a target of sub 8 minute miles on my leg, so happy I was able to achieve that despite not feeling well. Enjoyed that run immensely- nice cool, dry conditions and great to run alongside all the amazing ultra folks. Thanks also to Pam’s taxi for logististical services.
Well done also to the Carluke Jog Scotland team of Susan, Janet, Lisa and Hazel for having a great run on the day.
So many wee stories going on today. I walked up to Lanark after it and here was a competitor coming down from the Wellgate-
I think I have went a bit off-piste.
